The Siberling (Silver Coin) got its name from its polished stainless steel car body. The German Federal Railroad purchased 5,000 unit between 1961 and 1980 in different designs. For many years, these cars were the most numerous in commuter service on the DB. The Silberling was a universal car used in commuter service, express trains and even reserve cars on Inter-Zone trains to Berlin. Presently the cars are in use on the DB AG in a Traffic Red paint scheme. This model has a longer length with a minimum radius for operation of 360 mm 14-3/16″. It wears the current Era V paint scheme and features a prototype-specific underbody, trucks with disk brakes, NEM close couplers in standard pocket with guide mechanism and built-in interior details. Length over the buffers 28.2 cm 11-1/8″.
