DESCRIPTION 176-9104:

The EMD F40PH is synonymous with the Amtrak era of American passenger trains. Although it has been retired from Amtrak service, it operated for over 20 years. It continues to be the motive power for commuter railroads all over the United States, including the Chicago Metra. Over 400 F40PH locomotives have been manufactured by EMD in various configurations, with the Chicago Metra owning the largest number of the surviving units and operating them to this day, alongside the newer MPI built MP36PH.

The Chicago Metra F40PH has a number of unique tooling details such as roof details to represent the current Metra look, and new cab air conditioning units that give the Metra version of the F40PH its own specific style!

This is Kato 106-8702 N Gallery Bi-Level Psg.Cars/3pk Chicago Metra. The modern Nippon Sharyo-built Gallery Bi-Level is based off of the same concept as the original Santa Fe “El Capitan Bi-level design concept, whose success went on to inspire such double decker cars as Amtrak’s Superliners and the Bombardier Bi-Level car which is also used in commuter service. Today, gallery Bi-Level cars such as those used by the Chicago Metra commuter service can be seen operating in several states across the United States, such as Virginia and California.

All cars and locomotives are DCC friendly, with FR11 decoders available for optional 11-209/210 Interior Lighting Kits with LED.
